Education and Social Issues Commitment to equal opportunity

Part of our self-image as a family-owned company which operates sustainably is that we want to take responsibility and play an active role in shaping society. That is why the Coroplast Group makes a tangible contribution to promoting education and social projects in the region around the Wuppertal site. Because we see education not only as the basis for a successful future for Germany, but also as a basic requirement for enabling equal opportunities.

Promoting children Support of the Christian Morgenstern School

We have been supporting the Christian Morgenstern School, a Waldorf School in Wuppertal, since 2015. We provide support to children there who find it difficult to learn or live in a community. The special school for social and emotional development helps students to find their place in the world and stabilize their personality. It accomplishes this with very different and pedagogically advanced methods, such as eurythmy, speech, music, and painting therapy.

Staging theater plays on a large stage in the newly designed auditorium is also firmly anchored in the curriculum. Each student learns to overcome inhibitions and to speak, play, or sing in front of an audience. The new climbing tower, which we have co-financed, is also designed to give children not only the necessary safety, but also self-confidence and self-assurance.

Promotion of talent Supporting the Junior University Wuppertal

As an employer of approx. 7,600 people worldwide, we see it as our responsibility to promote talent intensively at an early stage in the same way as the Junior University Wuppertal. Launched in 2008 as an educational experiment, the university for children and youth has allocated more than 42,000 places in courses to students ranging from four to 20 years old since that time. Coroplast Group has supported Junior University Wuppertal since 2009, promoting numerous courses in the fields of science and technology.

As part of the Junior University Wuppertal, the Coroplast Group promotes young, talented people.

Sponsoring membership Partnership with University of Wuppertal

Since 1995 we have supported the association Freunde und Alumni der Bergischen Universität e.V. (FABU: friends and alumni of the University of Wuppertal) – a strong, multidisciplinary network for students, alumni, members, and partners of the University of Wuppertal. Since 2016, we have intensified our commitment by becoming premium sponsors.

With our sponsoring membership, we support the wide array of projects organized by FABU, such as in the fields of culture, talent programs, and research as well as teaching and international campus life at the University of Wuppertal.

Promoting young talents Our involvement in the Deutschlandstipendium

The Coroplast Group has been one of the supporters of the Deutschlandstipendium, which is funded in equal parts by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and private donors, since 2017. In close cooperation with the Bergische Universität Wuppertal and the Ruhr-Uni Bochum, we support talented students as part of this initiative and ensure the next generation of highly qualified specialists. In this way, we are strengthening Germany as a business location, assuming responsibility for the region and, not least, securing our economic future.

Career orientation Cooperation with the Hügelstraße secondary school

Since 2007, Coroplast Group has supported the Hügelstraße secondary school in Wuppertal in organizing various projects. As part of our annual career information program, we provide school students over a four-month period with insights into the corporate world of Coroplast, familiarize them with our vocational training programs, and help them prepare for working life with simulated suitability tests and job interviews. Apart from that, we support the Hügelstraße students’ café, which supports children with leisure activities such as games in the afternoon as well as theater, dancing, and music groups. Coroplast Group also equips the school soccer team with brand new shirts and equipment.

Volunteer work Support of the volunteer fire department in Wuppertal

Serving the common good and helping people in need: with these aims in mind, a great many people are involved in volunteer fire departments throughout Germany. Coroplast Group supports this important voluntary work as part of its taking responsibility for Wuppertal and the surrounding region. As early as the 1950s, the company set up its own volunteer fire department, which is quickly on the spot in case of emergencies on the company premises and provides expert aid. In addition, we have supported the Nächstebreck volunteer fire department for many years, which not only provides help as an emergency response team, but also plays a major role in training young firefighters.
