Story Björn Limbeck, Inhouse Consultant at the Coroplast Group

Björn Limbeck aged 30, hails from Wuppertal. After leaving school, he initially did an apprenticeship as an IT specialist for application development before taking first a Bachelor’s degree and then a Master’s in Business Information Systems. An SAP expert, he joined the Coroplast Group at the beginning of 2018 and supports his colleagues in Human Resources as Inhouse Consultant HR for IT issues. An enthusiastic judoka in his spare time and a digital native, he is actively driving the company's digital transformation.

What form did your recruitment process take?

Not long after I applied I received an invitation to an interview. It was a very pleasant, eye-level experience that took place in a friendly atmosphere. Shortly afterwards I was accepted and sent an employment contract to sign.

What made you choose this particular job?

In my previous position I was often expected to find a purely technical solution that would meet certain requirements. At the Coroplast Group I assist my department in a more holistic way, in other words I’m involved in processes from the first analysis through implementation to daily support. I make a real contribution, which is an aspect I especially like.

How would you describe your typical working day?

Every day is a little different. It’s usually a mixture of meetings, concept development and implementation. I also coordinate with my colleagues on an ad hoc basis in-between or deal with support requests.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

First of all, I identify and discuss potential areas for improvement. In the next step, I develop concepts, which I then implement in the framework of projects. Finally, my job entails providing training and direct support to my department. As an Inhouse Consultant, I need to maintain a clear focus on the big picture.

What challenges does your job present?

It’s not enough simply to tackle problems superficially and come up with minor workarounds. You have to understand where the root of those problems lies and put your finger on the interdependencies. That’s vital in order to achieve sustainable solutions.

I’ve got a really great team. It doesn’t matter who or when you ask – they’re always willing to lend an ear and help out on short notice.

How would you characterise your team?

I’ve got a really great team. It doesn’t matter who or when you ask – they’re always willing to lend an ear and help out on short notice. As a result, you sometimes get involved spontaneously in a project that you didn’t even know existed only a few minutes ago.

Why is your employer right for you?

The Coroplast Group is absolutely right for me because of the flat hierarchies and the chance to play an active role. I really value the opportunity to initiate changes at the company, and that’s what motivates me.
